New Moon's 13th Birthday Party!

The New Moon staff is planning an open house for Friday, March 31st, from 4-6 pm at New Moon Headquarters in Duluth, MN. If you're in the area, stop by to enjoy refreshments with us in our new office (we moved in October)! We'll have items from our history on display, such as the New Moon Millennial Quilt and every issue of the magazine. How are YOU going to celebrate New Moon's 13th Birthday? Tell me about it!

In the March/April 2006 issue, Mara Johnson-Groh tells us all about her trip to Tanzania! During the trip, Mara climbed Oldonyo Lengai, an active volcano, on the eve of her 13th birthday. Read all about it in her article, "Tanzania, I See Ya."

Also in this issue, meet fantasy writer Tamora Pierce! GEB member Anna Schmitz interviewed Tamora, and you can join the conversation on April 17, 2006. We'll be chatting online with Tamora about Wild Magic, the April New Moon Book Club selection.

New Moon reviewed two books in the very first issue of the magazine--An Outbreak of Peace and Chrysanthemum. It's been a while since we published regular book reviews, but they're back! In the next issue of New Moon (March/April 2006), GEB member Selene reviews Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. She loved it! Look for Selene's review and future book reviews in New Moon's "Check it Out!" department.

Do you have a theme song--a song that you think of as the soundrack of your life? New Moon does! In August 1993, singer/songwriter Ann Reed wrote this song about New Moon. She came to New Moon headquarters, and the Girls Editorial Board helped her write the verses. Try singing our song with friends at your New Moon Birthday Party in March!

For those of you who already registered your parties, look in the mail in the next couple of days for the brochures you requested. If you haven't registered yet, be sure to do so as soon as you plan your party!

This weekend, the GEB will be enjoying a slumber party in addition to their regular GEB meeting--it's our biannual daycamp! Daycamp is a great chance to talk about "big picture" stuff, get to know each other better, eat pizza, watch movies, and have FUN! The GEB loves parties. That's why they can't wait to hear about your New Moon birthday parties!
